Andrew James Murphy

Andrew’s journey with horses began when his non-horsey parents bought him an unbroken three-year-old Arab as his first horse, which he survived; he was originally keen to show jump and only became interested in dressage when Lizzy, the afore-mentioned Arab, declined to do any such thing. He began teaching age 17, but then took a detour and completed an English degree before working in the City for two years. By his mid-twenties he decided to give riding professionally a go; he achieved his BHSII qualification and began training at the TTT, riding for Charles de Kunffy, Arthur Kottas and Steven Clarke, where he later became a Senior Instructor. Andrew competed and won at every level of affiliated competition, including Grand Prix. He now teaches internationally and has trained riders for one Olympics and two World Equestrian Games. He has taught alongside Charles at the Dovecote Stables in Oxfordshire and is a true master, training all different types of horses, from Fjord Horses to Iberians, Warmbloods to Thoroughbreds.

Andrew’s teaching is not just based on what he has learned from the masters he has trained with; he has also developed his own philosophy and approach, to teaching as well as training horses. Through his vast experience training different types of horses he is able to quickly identify what will work and why, and then translate it into a language that any rider can clearly understand. His versatility, combined with his knowledge of the learning process, both equine and human, set him apart from the rest.

Adie Rose Murphy

Adie started riding after her pony bolted on a family pony trek. Her granddad then announced that she would have to ‘learn to do that properly', which turned out to be the most expensive thing he’s ever said. She competed at Area level with the Pony Club, and competed her first horse Slinky up to Medium.

She went on to pursue a career as a groom, during which time she was introduced to the TTT, before a freak accident changed everything. After a stint in the corporate world she got her AI and started training professionally. She competed Duende at Elementary, partially aerodynamically, before The Rona put a stop to all that. She aims to compete up the levels, to continue to train people and horses, and to write about it.

Duende

Duende came over from Spain in 2019 as a six year old, and is a Good Egg. Loves a carrot, hates a coat on a jump wing, and will go first in traffic.

Jive

Jive helps with the training by sitting down on the track and emerging from behind jump wings to test the horses’ concentration. Anyone’s for a gravy bone. 13/10 good boy.
